The Lost City Golf Course

The Lost City Golf Course is one of the most theatrical and internationally recognised golf experiences in South Africa. Part of the Sun City resort complex, the course was designed by Gary Player and opened in 1993. Set in an ancient volcanic crater, the design features dramatic elevation changes, lush vegetation and one of golf's most talked-about hazards — a genuine crocodile pit on the 13th hole.

• The 13th hole features a genuine crocodile hazard — a pit containing live Nile crocodiles. Balls entering the pit are treated as a water hazard, and retrieval is not attempted.
• The course hosted the Nedbank Golf Challenge for many years — one of golf's richest tournaments — attracting Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh and Retief Goosen.
• The course is set within an ancient extinct volcano, giving it dramatic natural elevation changes and rock formations entirely unlike any other course in South Africa.
